Sara Barnoff is a West Island artist known for her beautiful floral and still life watercolours. Her detailed style and use of vibrant colours is unique. Flowers are her subject of choice, but she also paints a variety of subjects, mixing a realistic style with a fantasy edge. Sara loves to tackle large dramatic paintings, but her miniatures are little gems. A member of the Lakeshore Artists Association she is also a dynamic and popular teacher of watercolour.
Sara became a “nature girl” at an early age. Raised in rural Pennsylvania, she spent her childhood surrounded by fields and forests. Her grandmother’s flower gardens were a source of fascination, as well as her grandmother’s paintings. Drawing and painting came naturally as a child, and the love of flowers and colour continues to present day. The use of vibrant colours in her paintings mimics a garden in full bloom. Sara produces her brightest and most detailed paintings during the winter months while confined indoors by the harsh elements and surrounded by a colourless landscape. When the earth warms once again in spring, Sara has trouble sitting still. The birds are singing, the flowers are growing and nature calls…
